What better way to wind up a visit to the Model Village than a leisurely tour of Clonakilty in Choo Choo, our very own road train.
Clonakilty has been designated as West Cork's Heritage Town by Board Failte, and during your tour you’ll soon understand why. The architecture is quintessential Irish, from delightful traditional hand painted shop fronts, to the an old Presbyterian church that is now home to the local post office and the Town Council and Library in a converted Corn Mill. Choo Choo makes its way along narrow streets and lanes that open into elegant squares with the river flowing through. Pass along the brewery buildings and mills that mark the town’s trading heritage and soak up the wonderful coastal scenery along the way.
Clonakilty is strategically located at the gateway to West Cork and has a strong base of natural amenities. It is the beach centre of the region with 90% of West Cork beaches within a 10-mile radius of the town.
